What Does Flourish Mean?

Flourish - V. To grow or develop in a healthy and vigorous way, especially as the result of a favorable environment. 

Here at Flourish, we offer a free community space to teen girls in Daphne and the surrounding areas.  Our program focuses on creating a safe environment for struggling teens where they can come to learn, grow, and flourish. 

At flourish we offer three programs. Our first program is our Empower program. This program is our weekly program for all girls ages 13-18 years old. In this program, we offer a wide variety of classes usually focusing on art, personal development, health, and community service each month. These classes help girls tap into their skills and find new hobbies or talents. This is meant to empower our girls and help them learn more about themselves and gain confidence. 

Our second program is our Equip program. This program is designed for our older teen girls ages 15-18 years old to help them gain workplace skills and prepare for life after high school. One of the integral parts of this program is our candle making. At Flourish, we create soy based candles that we sell both individually and wholesale. The proceeds from these sales go directly into the community center. Our older girls help us make these candles, learning valuable work skills, and receiving a stipend for their work. We also use this program to help girls explore all of their options for the future. We do things such as visit local businesses, tour colleges, and create resumes and portfolios. This program’s goal is to help all of our girls have a plan and know their options for after graduation. 

Finally, we offer our Educate program for tutoring and homework help. For many girls, it can be hard to find a space that is quiet and comfortable for them to focus on getting their homework completed at home. It can also be hard to find help if they are struggling with a particular subject. This program will offer all of our girls a safe space where they can come to focus on their homework, and receive one-on-one help in areas they are struggling with. This program also focuses on goal setting, and helps each girl set and reach a long term and short academic goal for each semester. 

At the end of the day, our  goal here at Flourish is to provide our girls with the tools they need to thrive, as well as a safe and comfortable environment where they can focus on and better themselves.
